Hi, my name is Steffen Lilie, also known as bitzone.
I am a musician, producer and designer based in Münster, Germany.

At the age of six, I started playing folk songs on a mandolin in a local guitar choir. The furniture at home was my magnificent drum kit. I later joined a five-person madrigal choir and the a-cappella pop group Scream & Shout, performing concerts and recording two albums, and appeared as a singer for the recordings of the musical JFK – The Rock Opera. Over the years, I worked as a live sound engineer and stagehand while taking singing and piano lessons, playing/programming drums and percussion, as well as performing vocals, keyboards, and electronics. I then co-founded the electro-jazz duo Clockworkgod and released the experimental solo album Sonic Purse with household-object music. I’ve also composed music for TV and lent my voice to commercials and audiobooks.
Member of the alternative rock trio Shadowface since 2013.
Currently I collaborate with musicians from all over the world as a musician, sound engineer and producer.
“bitzone’s mix and production skills highlight
the strengths of each musician.”
“His percussions have an essentially primal sound,
they also possess complexity in their patterns,
getting almost ceremonial in places.”
